This semester I designed an advertorial guide for The Daily Orange focused on nightlife in Syracuse. I used this as an opportunity to experiment with hand lettering which I carried throughout the guide.
I'm very excited to learn my designs received first place in the News magazine/Special section category for the cover of Basketball Guide (left) as well as an honorable mention in the Infographics category for the Obamacare front page (right).
The Daily Orange also won the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker award for best all-around paper.
I'm very excited that this week some work I did at The Daily Orange this past year was recognized by SSND Mizzou.

This past Monday we launched the print and web redesign of The Daily Orange. Read about the changes and see examples of the old and new design here:
Here is my most recent entry for The Society for News Design where I give advice to other college papers considering a redesign.
For this year's season preview basketball guide, I worked with our sports staff and one of my designers, Lindsay, to create a cohesive, magazine style guide. We tried out new typefaces, design elements and colors as well as white space on the cover to give the guide a clean look.
Today my first blog post for the Society for News Design was posted. I am focusing on the upcoming Daily Orange redesign.
Yesterday I talked with blogger and designer Chris Lusk's about my front page design on the Affordable Care Act.
With midterms in full swing, The Daily Orange created a "Self check-in" guide for students. We broke up the special edition guide into three sections "chill out," "shape up," and "think bigger." As Presentation Director of The Daily Orange I oversaw the illustration, photography and design in addition to designing half of the guide.
As part of my graphic design course this semester, our class was assigned to create a poster for the Poster for Tomorrow, "A home for everyone," contest.
